Along with all MIT staff, I look forward to joining our 2016 Graduating Class in celebrating their achievements at our upcoming Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 1 December at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.  We are fortunate to have Professor David Battersby, Vice-Chancellor of Federation University delivering the Occasional Address. Professor Battersby has a first class Honours degree and a PhD from the University of Waikato in New Zealand and a Masters degree in Higher Education from the University of New South Wales.

Prior to his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Federation University Australia (formerly the University of Ballarat) in July 2006, Professor Battersby held various senior appointments at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales over nearly two decades. These included the positions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Head of Campus and Dean of Faculty.

Professor Battersby is currently a member of the Board of IDP Education, he is Chair of Education Australia Limited, Founding Chair of Regional Universities Network and Founding Chair of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka.

Along with special guests, including Professor Battersby and MIT staff, this will indeed be a joyous occasion for not only our graduands but also their family and friends
