Student Oriented Service

At MIT Campus we are proud of our friendly personalized and efficient service, making students feel comfortable in a pleasant and caring atmosphere.

As many of our students come from overseas, particular attention is given to facilitating the transition from their own culture and education system to a very different one. Individual services include personal counselling, study support, airport reception and accommodation assistance.Back to top

Fast-track three-semester system with flexible study option

The three semesters in one year option enables students to fast-track their studies. This flexibility means that students can complete their university degree one year earlier than students studying in a conventional two- semester system. Masters programs can also be taken on a fast-track system.Back to top

Highly-competitive fee structure

The fees for MIT Campus courses will be seen to be highly competitive when compared with what is being offered by many other institutions, particularly in the light of the other advantages of studying at MIT.Back to top

Course accreditation

The University of Ballarat is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and its degree and post graduate courses are continually monitored to met society and industry demands.  The University of Ballarat programs offered at MIT Melbourne are taught by MIT recruited staff who are approved by the university. Under the arrangement MIT provides facilities, lecturers and tutors and student services whereas the University of Ballarat controls the quality via moderation processes and confers degrees. All courses are registered with the Australian Government through the Commonwealth Register for International Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).Back to top

Highly-qualified academic staff

MIT academic staff are highly qualified and offer high-calibre teaching and a caring environment for our students.  MIT Diploma courses are the equivalent of the first-year programs of the corresponding Bachelor Degree courses at the University of Ballarat. The academic staff are screened and approved by the University so as to ensure that the courses maintain the highest quality standards required by the University of Ballarat.Back to top

English Plus (EP)

EP is a program for students who have English skills marginally below the level required. It allows them to study English concurrently with their mainstream course.Back to top

Extra support classes

At MIT we understand that studying in a new environment, away from home, with new friends, and in a new system of learning can sometimes be difficult. These difficulties may adversely affect academic performance. In order to help students who are having difficulty coping with their studies, MIT provides additional study support through extra classes by our dedicated lecturers, on an individual basis, in such areas as communication skills, exam preparation, assignment preparation and enabling classes in programming subjects. This is at no extra cost.Back to top

Small class size and individual attention

We assist our students to succeed.

At MIT classes consist of small groups. This provides students with maximum opportunity for individual guidance by lecturers. Small class size encourages participation and develops student confidence. The result is a strong foundation for university study, with its emphasis on individual initiative. Mentors will monitor individual student’s overall welfare and assist with their academic development, guiding them towards excellence in academic performance. This is a regular and ongoing process at MIT.  In addition, students finding difficulty in a particular subject can receive one-to-one tuition free of charge. Staff are concerned with the overall welfare of each student, not only with study-related matters.Back to top

Chinatown and the Queen Victoria Market are within easy access, and the specialty shopping areas of Chapel Street, Brunswick Street and Victoria Street are only a short tram ride away. Work Experience Program

MIT offers its students a unique program of work experience to assist them with preparing for the world of work.

The program covers knowledge, skills and attitudes which focuses on good work practices and ethics. These include  customer relations, time management, telephone skills, dress code,  prioritizing of work, how to work in a team , how to handle stress and preparation of job applications and resumes.

The program is offered part-time each semester and admittance to the program is by application.  It is offered in two parts,  an initial  preparation and training period followed by actual placement at MIT.  Work placement for up to one year can also be arranged at appropriate companies through MIT.
