Vinay on MSAC

Vinay

Hi, I am Vinay. I have been studying at MIT for over a year and a half. Here I would like to share with you my feelings and experiences as a founding member of MSAC (MIT Students Activities Club).

I have always been keen on participating in extracurricular activities. One day, my friends and I got a chance to volunteer in a Breakfast event organised by MIT. I found it a very wholesome and fulfilling experience. I wanted to continue volunteering, and fortunately, my friends and I were offered to work for the “MIT Breakfast Club” as club members. It was not only a great opportunity to work with MIT’s experienced staff; it was also a challenge- a challenge I was willing to take. We began holding frequent meetings to come up with new ideas for making the club more innovative and multicultural. The aim of the club was to organise various recreational events that would give students opportunities to socialise. Later we changed ‘MIT Breakfast Club’ to MSAC (MIT STUDENT ACTIVITIES CLUB) so that the club was not constricted to holding only breakfast events.

MSAC- Of the students, By the students, and For the students.

MSAC does not belong to a single nationality or culture; it represents a cultural union of students from different countries and cultures studying at MIT. In brief, MSAC has something for everyone.

As a MSAC member, I believe that it is not so important that you work for money, as there are many things in life that are of more value. Being a MSAC member, I got an opportunity to work with the MIT staff and learn from their experience. The staff members value our decisions and guide us in a very understandable manner so that we perform our duties easily and effectively. We have developed planning and organising skills, and most importantly, working productively as a team member. I believe these skills and experiences will brace us for the challenges of the corporate world.

I often recall my first few months at MIT, when only a handful of people knew me. Now the scenario has changed. Both students and staff come up to me and ask if I am from the group of students who organise different events every month. To which, I proudly say, “Yes! I am a member of MSAC.”
