Bachelor of Business Information Systems

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems examines both the organisational and technological issues that are needed for the analysis and design of business information systems with a strong emphasis on electronic commerce. The course provides a state of the art programme that considers modern principles and theories of computing together with the practical applications of technology. The Bachelor of Business Information Systems aim to provide students with the appropriate knowledge, skills and values to be effective in modern business environments.

On completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Understand different types of information technology tools and their applications
  • Manage the impact of technology in organisations
  • Understand the role of technology in managing knowledge and information
  • Critically evaluate currently existing technology systems and new developments
  • Become familiar with the latest developments in information technology
  • Understand the organisational settings in which informations systems are used

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)

The aim of this course is to provide stimulating and rigorous studies at degree level in accountancy and other disciplines relevant to business, which together with professional experience, will contribute to the future supply of qualified accounts. Therefore, the underlying focus of this course will be on the fundamental concepts which enable students to become skilled professionals in accounting. In order to be eligible for the award, students need to complete a minimum of eight Accounting units, plus Organisations Law and Income Tax Practice.

Bachelor of Management

Bachelor of Information Technology

The course is based on a number of core units, which cover the fundamentals of information technology. These units provide students with knowledge and skills in programming, systems design, networks and operating systems. The underlying focus will be on the fundamental concepts which enable students to become skilled professionals in all areas of web-based development. These core units will be complemented by elective studies in areas associated with software development, networking or electronic commerce.

The later units of the course enable students to exercise, develop and apply their knowledge and skills in areas where the Internet and World Wide Web are increasing in importance. There will be a balance between specific knowledge of particular developmnet tools (languages, operating systems, development environments) and general lifelong learning skills which ensure that graduates are able to remain at the forefront of this vibrant and rapidly developing sector.

Master of Business Administration (International Management)

The MBA has become the international standard for graduate business qualifications. It is a generalist’s degree intended for those who wish to widen their managerial knowledge and skills. The philosophy underlying this MBA is to enable our students to deal with the many facets of management. The course aims to develop skills in critical thinking, research and analysis through individual and team based work. A feature of this MBA is that if focuses on critical areas of integration but facilitates some specialisation to accomodate specific career paths.

This programme offers the following unique benefits:

Master of Information Technology

The Master of Information Technology programme is designed to provide advanced theoretical and practical concepts by coursework. There is an in-depth approach to project management skills, programming and software engineering. It provides professional level studies which will meet the Australian Computer Society assessment criteria.

The objectives of this course are that the students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate familiarity with the theoretical basis of Information Technology
  • Develop appropriate project management principles and technique
  • Develop programming skills required to architect and implement complex computer systems
  • Analyse, design and implement software systems, including functional, relational and object-oriented methodologies
