Academic Entry Requirements
Undergraduate Degree Programs

Some courses have additional requirements. Students with post school qualifications (e.g.Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) may be considered for admission with advanced standing or credit (recognition of prior learning.).

Postgraduate Courses
Entry requirements can vary from course to course but generally require completion of a first degree from a recognised university with specified minimum grades (or marks) in relevant subjects. A period of work experience following graduation, may also be required for some professional courses.

English Language Proficiency - IELTS
A Band score of 6.0 with sub scores of at least 6.0 in reading and writing.
Exceptions: Students who can demonstrate one of the following may be deemed to meet the English language requirements:
English spoken as a first language
Secondary school studies completed in English with satisfactory pass in final year
Satisfactory completion of first year of tertiary studies taught and examined in English
Pathways
Students who successfully complete the
MIT Diploma have guaranteed entry
directly into the second year of the
equivalent Bachelor programs of the
University of Ballarat without having
to change their learning environment.
MIT Diploma courses are exactly the
same as the first year programmes of
the equivalent Bachelor Degree at the
University of Ballarat.
Upon successful completion of the
Degree, students may then be eligible
to continue on to the relevant
University of Ballarat post graduate
program.

Academic Exemptions
(Recognition of
Prior Learning)

exemption on account of work already
completed in a recognised university
(or equivalent). Full details of the
subjects previously studied (including
detailed syllabuses, a description of the

and an official original transcript (or
certified copy) detailing performance
in the subject(s) concerned must be
provided, preferably in advance of
coming to Australia or, at the latest,
at the time of enrolment, in order for
exemptions to be decided. A student
who receives exemption from any unit
may be eligible for a refund of fees for
the unit concerned or credit towards
another unit.

Teaching and
Assessment methods
