Course description

Program overview

The Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems (GDBIS) will provide students with the appropriate knowledge, skills and values to be effective in modern business environments. It is a state-of-the-art program that considers modern principles and theories of computing together with the practical applications of information technology. The Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems examines both the organisational and technological issues that are needed for the analysis and design of business information systems.

Successful completion of this course will give students the foundation, knowledge and skills to:

  • Discuss the latest developments in information technology
  • Understand the different types of information technology tools and their applications
  • Manage the impact of technology in organisations
  • Understand the role of technology in managing knowledge and information
  • Direct the use and uptake of modern technology
  • Recognise the threats and opportunities of technology in business

Career opportunities

On completion of the Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems students will be well-equipped for employment in a range of areas, including information systems development, information management, electronic commerce, database administration and consulting.

Course structure

Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems (GDBIS) is two semester program with total of eight courses. A full time study load is 60 credit points or four courses per semester with each course consist of 15 credit points. Upon successful completion of GDBIS graduates can directly transfer into second year Master of Business Information Systems.

Academic requirements

As a minimum, applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

English requirements - International students only

Minimum IELTS 6.0 (Academic) with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent.
