Bio


Tushar joined MIT in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer in Law with nearly two decades of experience of teaching law at tertiary level both in Australia and overseas. Prior to joining MIT, Tushar taught at the Australian National University, the University of Ballarat, Western Sydney University, University of Dhaka, and University of Chittagong. In 2016-17, Tushar worked as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Hosei University, Tokyo. In addition, earlier Tushar was appointed as a post-doctoral Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan.

Tushar is admitted as a Legal Practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia since 2004. Tushar also worked as a Registered Migration Agent for about a decade.

Tushar holds an LLB with Honours (First Class) and an LLM (First Class). He obtained his PhD in 2000 and was a recipient of the Asian Youth Fellowship and later, a prestigious Monbusho scholarship to complete his doctoral research. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and a Graduate Certificate in Education (Tertiary Education). Tushar also received non-award education from the Harvard University, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, and the United Nations University. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Tushar received University of Ballarat's Vice-Chancellors' Award in 2011 for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and received nomination for Australian Awards for University Teaching in 2012. In 2016, he won a Teaching Excellence Award from the ANU College of Law jointly with a few other colleagues. Tushar is institutionally trained in Academic Leadership as well.

Tushar has experience of successful supervision of research by LLB Honours and doctoral candidates. He also acts as an external examiner of doctoral theses both Australian and overseas universities. He is often invited to review scholarly articles for publication in Australian and international journals.
