Compliance obligations
As an MIT agent, you are required to comply with the following Australian government regulations:
- The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act)
- The National Code 2018
- The Australian International Education and Training Agent Code of Ethics
These frameworks are designed to protect the interests of international students and maintain the integrity of Australia’s education sector.
Your key responsibilities as an MIT agent
You must:
- Provide accurate and current information to students about MIT courses, entry requirements, fees, visa conditions, and policies
- Act ethically, honestly, and in the best interests of students at all times
- Use only MIT-approved marketing materials
- Ensure all student applications are complete, accurate, and supported by certified documents
- Certify student documents as an authorised MIT agent
- Screen students for the Genuine Student (GS) requirement and submit the required GS forms with each application
- Report any suspected fraudulent documents or misleading information immediately
- Stay up to date with changes to visa regulations and international education policies
- Participate in MIT training and information sessions as required
- Comply with the ESOS Act, the National Code 2018, and the Agent Code of Ethics at all times
