All international students must meet academic, English language, and Genuine Student (GS) requirements to be eligible for admission to MIT programs.
Academic entry requirements
To be eligible for admission, students must meet the minimum academic requirements for their chosen course. As a general guide:
- - Undergraduate programs – Completion of Australian Year 12 or an equivalent overseas qualification
- - Postgraduate programs (coursework and research) – An Australian equivalent Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification (such as a Master’s degree) from a relevant field
Entry requirements may vary by course and by country.

MIT assesses overseas qualifications using the Australian Government’s Country Education Profiles (CEP). This helps us determine how a student’s previous qualifications compare to Australian education standards.

All students applying for a student visa to study at MIT must meet the Australian Government’s Genuine Student (GS) requirement, as set by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). To meet this requirement, students must demonstrate that they:
- Have genuine reasons for choosing their course and MIT
- Understand their visa conditions and study commitments
- Have the financial capacity to support their studies and living costs

The GS requirement is not intended to exclude students who, after completing their studies, develop skills that are in demand in Australia and later apply for permanent residence.
MIT’s GS Screening Process Includes:
- Student interviews (where required)
- Submission of Genuine Student responses and the GS Test Assessment Form
- Verification of supporting documents, including academic and financial documents
Application Requirements Based on Student Location:

- - Onshore students without a current student visa: Must apply through an MIT-authorised agent in Australia.
- - Onshore students with a current student visa: May apply directly to MIT or through an agent.
