Join us on an adventure day as we leave busy Sydney CBD behind to explore the beautiful and relaxing Cockatoo Island which was in the heart of Sydney harbour!

09.00am: Meet at MIT Ground floor and we get ready to start to travel ‘Explore the historic Island’.

09.10 am: We start our journey early at as we take a morning walk to our first destination stop of Barangaroo Wharf!

09.38 am: Departure from Barangaroo Wharf 1 to Cockatoo Island.

09.47 am: We arrive at Wharf and get off the ferry, start our journey to explore the island.

10.00am –12.00pm: Pick up a free map and self-guided audio tour guidebook, guiding you through 26 points of interest across the island. Highlights: Convict Precinct, Shipbuilding Dockyards, Industrial Workshops, Ferry Wharf and Views of Sydney Harbour

12.00pm – 2pm: Lunch Time & Rest

Option 1: Picnic on the Island. Picnic areas near the Convict Precinct or the waterfront. You can bring your own foods and share to others.

Option 2: Café on the Island near the Visitor Information Centre (at your expense)

2.00pm – 4.00pm: Explore Additional Areas such as Industrial Workshops, Dry Dock, Biloela House and Gardens & The Dog Leg Tunnel. You also can go souvenir shopping at Visitor Information Centre

4.00pm - Start to pack up and get ready for ferry

4.18pm - 4.27pm - Leave wharf and back to Barangaroo.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***

A $20 CASH deposit is then payable to MIT Finance on Level 7 after your register to hold your place and is due by Tuesday 5th August (which will be returned to you on the day). Your registration will be automatically cancelled if the deposit is not paid by the deadline.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Each student will have to ensure they have this amount ($20) added to their Opal card to cover the cost of the return ferry trip prior to the day’s journey as we MUST leave right on time from Barangaroo Wharf at 09.38am.

Bookings are essential and are capped at 20. Hurry! Registrations close Monday 4th August 2025 at 5pm.
