Australia Day is the national public holiday celebrated on January 26, which commemorates the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney and the establishment of the British colony. The day is intended for Australians to reflect on their history, celebrate contemporary Australia, and acknowledge the contributions of all who have called the country home.
