COVID-19 safety measures and health guidelines - NSW
As the COVID-19 situation evolves in NSW, it's crucial we stay informed and proactive for your well-being and our community's safety.
Recent data indicates an increase in community transmission, largely attributed to the new JN.1 variant. This variant is impacting people globally, particularly those at higher risk.
To effectively combat this wave, the following steps are recommended by NSW Health:
- Wear a mask: use a high-quality, well-fitted mask for your and others' protection.
- Get vaccinated: keep up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
- Ventilation: open windows and doors to let fresh air in, and meet outdoors when possible.
- Get tested: use a rapid antigen test (RAT) if you have symptoms. Positive results should prompt immediate consultation for antiviral eligibility.
- Stay at home: If you test positive, stay home until you are symptom-free.
- Take antivirals if eligible: eligible individuals should consider taking COVID-19 antiviral medicines within 5 days of symptom onset. Consult your GP for more information.
