- Let’s face it, there are lots of things going into the microwave if you’re a student, and during quarantine and self-isolation…The microwave is probably getting a better workout than you are. Why not turn that time into a commitment to work out for the duration the microwave is cooking your food. Here’s an idea for a workout if you had to put a meal in the microwave for 3 minutes. Start the routine when the microwave starts…
3:00-2:30 – Push-ups (Try to do at least 10, but if you are a pro, try to get to 20)
2:30-2:00 seconds – Sit-ups (Try not to move in a steadily and without a violent jolt, tense your core and keep your body symmetrical)
2:00-1:30 – Squats (Spread your feet a shoulder width a part, keep your balance and squat so that you feel it in your butt, if it feels uncomfortable open your stance and turn your feet to face outwards and try again)
1:30-1:00 – Star Jumps (Start with your feet together and your arms by your side, then jump to make the shape of a star)
1:00-0:30 – Push-ups AGAIN!
0:30-0:00 – Your choice
- Every object on the planet has weight…And that means that you can use objects around your home as a weight just like at the gym! Sounds straight forward? That is because it is. They might not be shaped in a way that you are used to at your local YMCA or F1 facility, however they can be just as effective for getting a good work out. The key here is to find objects that aren’t too valuable, have their weight distributed evenly and aren’t too heavy. Here is a list of common household items that make great weights for creative workout routines.
- Full cans of paint
- A Bag of rice
- A sack of potatoes
- 2L bottles of soft drink
- An Encyclopedia
