MIT Research Newsletter July 2024

Masters by Research

It is exciting to report that MIT’s first cohort of Masters by Research students is close to completion. At the Research Seminar Series commencing next month, our students will present their research-inprogress projects to MIT staff and research students.
On 11th July, Masters by Research students from MR603 for the Schools of Information Technology and Engineering and Business were confirmed to proceed to MR604, the final semester of the program.

Research Seminar Series

From August 13 we will launch a series of research seminars presented by our Masters by Research students, our colleagues, and some external experts. Research seminars enable knowledge sharing, indepth discussions, and networking.
Dates, times, discussion topics, presenters, and format/venue for the seminars will be disseminated shortly.

Research Ethics Policy and Procedure

Thanks to Associate Professor Dianne Bolton and her team for formulating MIT’s Research Ethics Policy and Procedure with an application form, and a plain language statement and consent form. All academic staff and research students undertaking research projects classified as low-risk and more than low-risk (Application for Research Ethics, p2) must obtain ethics approval before collecting data.

Book

Editor: Associate Professor Parves Suiltan

This book explores theories and brings empirical evidence of innovations in learning and teaching and practice-driven leadership and governance of higher education institutions across developed and developing countries aiming to recover and sustain during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic. A fresh managerial approach to identifying the critical challenges, opportunities, and strategies of higher education services management is the fundamental essence of this book. The book includes unique chapters, and these are carefully designed. This book has original scholarly contributions, including case studies, and explains how higher education institutions can deal with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cross-cultural insights of both public and private sector higher education institutions across the globe are a helpful guide for academics, researchers, advanced students, and practitioners to identify and understand the best practices about what worked well and what did not during the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapters help formulate a strategic recovery plan for higher education institutions to mitigate the challenges of the post-Covid-19 Pandemic.

A Special Issue on Sustainable Finance

call_for_papers_sustainable_finance_-_af_20240522.pdf (afaanz.org)

Sustainable finance seeks to create long-term value by tackling global issues such as climate change, pollution, depletion of natural resources, and social inequality, to name a few. The efficiency of capital markets plays a crucial role in facilitating sustainable finance. By efficiently directing capital towards sustainability goals, capital markets can promote sustainability in business operations, investment, and corporate governance. Sustainability-oriented investors can also exert pressure on companies, demanding that corporate managers focus more on sustainability goals, ultimately benefiting all stakeholders.
