How will I be notified about Orientation details?

Commencing students will be emailed when the Orientation program is available, and the website will be updated.

Do I have to attend the orientation?

Orientation attendance is compulsory.

You're encouraged to participate in other sessions such as campus tours, info sessions and academic workshops to help you get the best start to your studies. There are also a variety of activities where you can meet your academics and student leaders, get to know other new people, and participate in social events.

Do I have to register to attend orientation?

Yes, registration is required.

What happens at orientation?

Orientation is an opportunity to begin developing academic and co-curricular goals, make networks with other students, learn about campus resources, discuss your academic goals, and enrol in subjects for your first trimester. This is your opportunity to start putting your academic plan into action and learn about everything MIT has to offer you. Refer to the orientation schedule for more information.

What information will be covered at orientation?

Orientation marks the start of your college studies and for most courses it is held the week before trimester classes start.

The program is designed to familiarise you with the College life, and the services and resources available on each campus and online. By attending Orientation, you gain critical course and faculty information, plus essential information on the support we offer. This is also your opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow student plus academics and all the support staff that are ready to help you along the way.

We strongly encourage that all new students attend orientation.

Will I be able to enrol in classes the same day I attend my orientation?

No, you will be allocated an appointment to enrol in your program on Day 2 or Day 3.

Do I need to bring anything to orientation?

Yes, you must bring the following documents to enrol:

  • Confirmation of Enrolments (CoE)
  • Original or certified copy of Passport.
  • If wanting to apply for credit transfer: course structure, unit syllabus and official original academic qualification, transcripts from your previous studies.
  • Conditional documents (please check your offer letter for conditional documents required during enrolments.)

Important: if your offer is conditional, you must provide the requested document before enrolment.

How do I get to the campus for Orientation?

We encourage all staff and students to choose sustainable transport options to access Campus Facilities. There are many options, including public transport, car-pooling, cycling or walking.

Is parking available?

Onsite parking is not available at MIT campus; however, car parking stations are nearby for a fee.

What do I do if I join MIT after the start of classes?

If you were unable to attend O Week from 06th May, we run a ‘Late Orientation’ session on week three which you need to attend. There are also plenty of online resources you can explore at https://moodle.mit.edu.au as with most things, nothing replaces F2F communication.
