Overview of the Board

The Melbourne Institute of Technology Pty Ltd as Melbourne Institute of Technology (“MIT”) is a proprietary limited company with a Board of Directors that includes independent members along with representatives of the owners of the company and the executive management.  The Board of Directors provides a mechanism to separate the ownership of the company from the management of MIT. The Board of Directors ensures that MIT fulfils its responsibilities as detailed in its Vision and Goals in addition to ensuring that MIT continues to meet its obligations and responsibilities as an Institute of higher education. 

The Board has the defined key responsibilities under Functions of the Board of Directors. In exercising its responsibilities, the Board will determine, approve, or advise on, any matters within its authority. Usually, the Board decisions will be taken following consideration of expert or management advice and consultations with relevant stakeholders, except where privacy and commercial-in-confidence or other considerations may restrict such consultations.
