Start enrolment

As an MIT student, you must enrol in units and select your timetable before your classes begin. You must be in Australia and have attended Orientation to complete your enrolment. If you’re still overseas, you cannot enrol until you arrive in Australia. Follow the steps below to complete your enrolment. If you need assistance, contact the MIT Enrolment Team at enrolments@mit.edu.au.

Before you enrol

This information is for international students. You are an international student if you have a student visa issued by the Australian Government. If you are a permanent resident (PR) visa holder or an Australian citizen, or a New Zealand citizen, or a Temporary Protection visa holder, you are a domestic student. What you will need to enrol
MIT Letter of Offer
Student ID

(e.g., MIT1234567 as stated in your MIT Letter of Offer)

Temporary password

  • You must reset your temporary password to a secure one at here before you continue.
  • If you studied at MIT before, your previous password will work (we strongly recommend you reset your password). If you have forgotten your password you can reset it.
Pay your tuition fees

You must have paid your tuition fees as outlined in your Letter of Offer

Address details
Home address

Must be your residential address from your home country.

Mailing address

Must be an Australian address. We will send you important mails to this address.

Australian address

Required within 7 days of arrival as part of your student visa requirements. You must also update this address in AMS within 7 days of moving location.

USI

Your USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a reference number that gives you access to an online record of your recognised training and qualifications. It is a government requirement for all students studying in Australia.

You will not be able to create a USI until you land in Australia and pass through customs.

How to create USI?

  1. Get your ID ready
    You will need your passport with a valid Australian Student Visa to create a USI.
  2. Create your USI
    • Go to usi.gov.au or click the button below
    • Use your full legal name (as printed in your Passport) when creating your USI

Your name in the USI registery must match your full legal name recorded at MIT

Any discrepancy between your name in the USI registry and MIT's systems will prevent you from verifying your USI and enrolling.

Create USI

  • Enter your email and phone number
  • Add your emergency contact details
  • Provide your USI
  • Click "Save"

You can start your enrolment after you attend your Day-1 of Orientation on O'week.

Step 1
Access AMS

Login using your Student ID and Password

Go to AMS
Step 2
Accept the student declaration

Read and agree to the Student Declaration, outlining your responsibilities at MIT.

Step 3
Enter/ update your details

You will need to provide:

  • Contact information (email, phone number, emergency contact)
  • Australian address - you must update your details within 7 days of arrival.
  • Your USI (go to the "Before you enrol" section to find out how to create a USI)
Step 4
Complete a quick student expectation survey

How to complete this step:

  • Answer questions about your study expectations
  • Provide details for MIT's statistical purposes
  • Click "Submit"
Step 5
Select your units and timetable
  • 1. Your study plan (refer to your course structure)
  • 2. Select your desired units via "Add Unit" and click "Save".

You must enrol in a full time study load; this means you will need to select four units per trimester if you are an undergraduate student or three units per trimester if you are a postgraduate student (except Master of Professional Accounting).

Step 6
Confirm enrolment
  • Review your enrolment details carefully
  • Click "Confirm & Submit"

Congratulations! You are now officially a MIT student!

  • Enrol Early: To secure your preferred classes and access course materials on time.
  • International students must satisfy Full-time study load requirements
  • USI Deadline: Add your USI to avoid delays in accessing course resources.
