About Orientation O’ Week
O’ Week is held before the start of every new trimester. It’s a week which we aim will be one you’ll never forget and is your opportunity to get involved in a range of events and discover the skills and information you need to be successful in your studies. You’ll meet your Course Coordinators, academics, support staff and learn more about your study expectations and MIT Systems. It’s also a great opportunity to make new connections and begin new friendships.

Getting to your campus

MIT Melbourne campus is located at the historical - Argus Building at 288 La Trobe Street, on the corner of Elizabeth and La Trobe Street. Entrance is via the La Trobe Street side.

Make sure you have all of your original documents and a Photocopy ready for collection when you arrive. You will require:
- Passport
- Confirmation of Enrolment(CoE)
- Academic Transcripts from (Year 11 and 12)
- Original versions of all previous academic qualifications
- Overseas Student Health Cover details
- English language scores (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE)
Important: You may not be able to enrol if you fail to provide above documents.
Enrolment
Enrolments will take place on campus on 14th to 17th March 2023.
If you do not have a USI you may apply for one by following the "how-to guide" on usi.gov.au
You will receive further information about enrolment closer to the date.

How will I be notified about Orientation details?
Commencing students will be emailed when the Orientation program is available, and the website will be updated.
Do I have to attend the orientation?
Orientation attendance is compulsory.
You're encouraged to participate in other sessions such as campus tours, info sessions and academic workshops to help you get the best start to your studies. There are also variety of activities held where you can meet your academics and student leaders, get to know other new people and participate in on the social events.
Do I have to register to attend orientation?
Yes, registration is required.
What happens at orientation?
Orientation is an opportunity to begin developing academic and co-curricular goals, make networks with other students, learn about campus resources, discuss your academic goals, and enrol in subjects for your first trimester. This is your opportunity to start putting your academic plan into action and learn about everything MIT has to offer you. Refer to the orientation schedule for more information.
What information will be covered at orientation?
Orientation marks the start of your college studies and for most courses it is held the week before trimester classes start.
The program is designed to familiarise you with the College life, and the services and resources available on each campus and online. By attending Orientation, you gain critical course and faculty information, plus essential information on the support we offer. This is also your opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow student plus academics and all the support staff that are ready to help you along the way.
We strongly encourage that all new students attend orientation.
Will I be able to enrol in classes the same day I attend my orientation?
Yes, you will be enrolled in classes and select your timetable during the orientation week.
Do I need to bring anything to orientation?
Yes, you must bring the following documents to enrol:
- Passport and Visa
- MIT Offer Letter
- Original Academic qualifications and English test results
- All other documentation requested on your Offer Letter.
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
How do I get to the campus for Orientation?
We encourage all staff and students to choose sustainable transport options to access Campus Facilities. There are many options, including public transport, car-pooling, cycling or walking.
Is parking available?
Onsite parking is not available at MITs CBD campus; however, car parking stations are nearby for a fee.
What do I do if I join MIT after the start of classes?
If you were unable to attend O Week from 14th March, we run a ‘Late Orientation’ session during week two which you need to attend. There are also plenty of online resources you can explore at https://moodle.mit.edu.au however as with most things, nothing replaces F2F communication.
