What happens at orientation?

Orientation is an opportunity to begin developing academic and co-curricular goals, make networks with other students, learn about campus resources, discuss your academic goals, and enrol in subjects for your first trimester. This is your opportunity to start putting your academic plan into action and learn about everything MIT has to offer you. Refer to the orientation schedule for more information.

What information will be covered at orientation?

Orientation marks the start of your college studies and for most courses it is held the week before trimester classes start.

The program is designed to familiarise you with the College life, and the services and resources available on each campus and online. By attending Orientation, you gain critical course and faculty information, plus essential information on the support we offer. This is also your opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow student plus academics and all the support staff that are ready to help you along the way.

We strongly encourage that all new students attend orientation.

What do I do if I join MIT after the start of classes?

If you were unable to attend O Week from 14th March, we run a ‘Late Orientation’ session during week two which you need to attend. There are also plenty of online resources you can explore at https://moodle.mit.edu.au however as with most things, nothing replaces F2F communication.

So, you have attended orientation- what’s next? Explore our list of what we recommend you achieve to make the most of your first-year experience.
