MIT - COVID-19 Statement

25 October 2021

In responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff has been, and remains our priority.

The actions we have taken to date, including following government directives and guidelines,  have enabled MIT to continue operating in a manner that protects the safety and well-being of our students and staff.  MIT has been supportive of the Commonwealth and the State governments in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

We acknowledge the significant challenges and hardship over the past two years caused by  lockdowns and other restrictions.  We are eager to return to a vibrant on-campus life as soon as possible. MIT welcomes the National Plan and the NSW and Victorian state government’s Roadmaps providing a path towards reopening.  MIT also recognises that the key to reopening is achieving the vaccination targets.

With COVID vaccines now widely available, we strongly encourage all our staff and students who can be vaccinated, to get a COVID-19 vaccination.  This is the best way to protect ourselves and to maintain a COVID safe MIT community.

MIT requires all staff and students, and visitors attending on campus to be fully vaccinated.   For those with a valid medical exemption, MIT will support them to undertake their work or their studies remotely in a manner that is reasonable and practical.

We look forward to welcoming our students, both local and international, and our staff back onto our campuses as soon as possible.  We will do so in accordance with government directives, and any public health orders, and by following the safety measures in place under our COVID Safe Plans to ensure that our MIT community is COVID safe.

This Statement is subject to change as the situation evolves.
